Getting The Best From Your Courier

When you join with a courier, you are in the fantastic new position of being able to connect your customers with your products efficiently. follow our advice below to make sure you are getting the most you can from our service, and to avoid mistakes when booking deliveries.

  • When you book your freight onto the courier booking system, you have to ensure you are choosing the right service for your freight. If you do not, you will incur charges. These come from the Sortation Centre (Hub) where all local depots collected freight is sent to sort into delivering postcodes and dispatched overnight. If the freight exceeds the weight or dimensions of the service you have chosen, additional charges will be added to change the service.

  • It is our responsibility as couriers to educate our customers about our services and restrictions within these services. For example, if you have a parcel that is 1.25 metres long and weighs 15kgs and book this freight onto the parcel service (ND) , this will be be flagged at the hub as too long for the ND sortation conveyor belts. Maximum freight length is 1.2 metres. This freight is then removed and added to the Non-Conveyable (NC) service, which is an addition charge on your tariff. The Hub will issue a fee for the incorrect service booked and this is added to your invoice.

  • Within APC Overnight, charges for incorrect services are very noticeable from your invoice. They are also easily avoided if we are educating you correctly on your freight services and tariff. We pride ourselves on transparency of our invoices. You are able to easily read your shipments, which are listed by postcode, then service. As we are local, present and answerable to our customers, we are on hand at all times to deal with invoice queries.

  • This area is something to be aware of when booking larger items. When you have a parcel that is lightweight but very large, it is the sending customers responsibility to check the volumetric weight. This is calculated by the length X Width X Height divided by 600. This will bring the volumetric weight up. Therefore your original service booked for the parcel may be incorrect. The hub will pick up on this and invoice this accordingly.
